Sara first got in contact with me on the 12th September to see if I could style hair for her wedding which was on the 27th October! I was really excited to do another Autumnal wedding…….but there was one thing that panicked me…..Sara lived in Bath and wouldn’t be coming to Crawley for her Bridal trial until the week of the wedding! Eeeeeeeek!
We chatted over messages and I got a good idea of what Sara wanted, most of the pictures she sent me were my own work so that was a massive help! But I could really sense Sara getting worried…..
Afterall, she was putting all her trust in me to get this right- she didn’t know anybody in Crawley therefore she couldn’t get any word of mouth recommendations from anyone. Sara just searched Social media and went with who’s work she loved. Good job for me I have some great reviews about my business. And I’m also pretty good at reassuring people. Rule number one for me in my business is that my Brides trust me and know that I am loyal to them and that I will go above and beyond.
Sara came for her Bridal trial on Tuesday 24th October, I had a Hot chocolate & cookies waiting for her and we started going through styles. We literally got the first one but made it a bit ‘boho bride’. It was a style which is becoming a firm favourite since I did it on myself in the summer. Sara’s sister and brother arrived to come and see it and it was so important to have people in that Sara was close to who knew her so well to give the thumbs up! Sara mentioned that the wonderful Jenna Marie Makeup Artistry would be doing makeup on the day, I have worked with Jenna before and her work is beautiful! So I knew Sara and her Bridal party would be in good hands with us!
So seeing as we were cramming everything into a few days I did Sara’s lashes for her on the Wednesday, so that was one less thing to worry about too!
The day was finally here! Jenna (MUA) and I set off nice and early on the morning of Friday 27th October to go to the Air bnb that Sara and all her family were staying at to get them all wedding ready! I took with me a Chamomile tea for the Bride incase she was getting jittery 😬. (I hope you got to enjoy that after the Wedding celebrations 😉). I started with Sara’s mum who has the most beautiful long dark hair! She wanted a curly half up half down style so it was all curled and pinned to ensure those curls stayed in! We left that to set for a while and then I came back to it later to finish.
The weather was so beautiful! It had rained all week but today was bright blue skys, a little chilly, but a gorgeous October day! The mood in the house was of excitement with Sara’s father coming in and out making us all laugh! Sara’s friends all coming in to say Hello & I could tell this couple were very well thought of by their friends and family!
Now to start on Sara’s hair! I started by loosely curling it and then sectioning off the pieces I need for where! It sounds technical but I like to treat Hair styling like a puzzle so it all flows together nicely! We were going for a nice loose dutch braid updo with “not too much volume” with some added Gypsophilia. I hadn’t yet seen Sara’s dress but when I did it was just perfect!
I then styled Sara’s Mother In Law to be! She wanted an Updo which she would be adding a fascinator to. I thought a classic style would be perfect for her lovely blonde locks.
Time was getting on, the Videographer and Photographers arrived so it was time for Sara to get the dress on and for me to fit the veil…..
I would say a job very well done by myself and the amazing Jenna did their makeup perfect! I absolutely loved that Jeffree Starr lipstick shade, perfect for Autumn/Winter weddings.
Sara, you have been amazing! It was an absolute pleasure to style your hair and do your lashes for your Special day. Wishing you and your husband Lots of Love, Luck & Happiness ❤️
