Power Brows- Growing out those Brows.

Questions asked frequently in my Beauty Studio, “Are your Brows Microbladed?” (No), “How do you get your Brows so thick?”, “How come your Brows always look good?”.

Well Loves, we have all been on a Journey with our Eyebrows in one way or another. It can be a vicious circle BUT hopefully my tips to growing out your Brows will help. Please persevere, don’t give in to the temptation of PLUCKING!! It will be so so worth it!

Bold Eyebrows (or Power Brows) as we like to call them, will never go out of fashion. I find it so interesting how Brows can really frame a face and can compliment any kind of look you go for!

I have a few clients who are so lucky to have Instagram worthy Brows and so just come in for a tidy up to keep them groomed.

But fear not, we are all entitled to live our best Brow Life. Just take some of my advice…..

1. Stop Plucking- Time and perseverance is a beautiful thing! Leave those hairs be! It will feel like it’s getting worse before it gets better. But use this time to use Brow Pencils/ Brow Pomades or there some Fabulous Brow Mascaras out there! I personally use a Brow Pomade by Makeup Revolution and I apply using an Angled Eco Brow Brush.

2. Essential Oils can help speed up your growth- I swear by Castor Oil, smother your Brows before bed every night. Vitamin E is another amazing one to use. I tend to refrain from using the Growth Brow or Lash serums because as soon as you stop using them those hairs fall out, back to square one…..No Thankyou!

3.Maintain a gorgeous shape by Trimming. Our Brow Hairs can grow and from some Clients I have in they grow long quick!! Sometimes a trim can really thicken your Brows up.

I offer Brows as a service in my Studio and I just love seeing the end result. Even just a Brow Tint, Shape, Wax and Trim can really transform your Eyebrows! I finish off every ‘Power Brows’ service with a gorgeous blend of Aloe Vera and Lavender oil to soothe.

Lastly I want to say how Proud I am of so many of My Power Brow Babes who have been sending me amazing pictures of the unreal Brow growth they are achieving in Isolation!

Please bare with this! It can be so tempting I know, I’ve been there! But just like the Hair on your head this takes time. We may never get the thickness of our gorgeous babe Cara Delevingne but we can flippin’ have a good go!

My Hair Care Saviours 2020

Has your Hair been lacking that gorgeous silky feeling?! Is it looking dry and damaged from the changing seasons?! Well, quite frankly I have been fed up with my hair looking dead! So I needed to take action and start caring for my locks better :). Nobody likes dry brittle ends Jennifer!!

Grab a cuppa and get comfy…..Here are the Hair care angels that have been saving my life and helping my hair grow!

First up….I’ve been using this Duo for a while now so they are definately my Top faves! Picture just to show the range/ both bottles are the same ;).

It’s the Bedhead Tigi Urban Anti-dotes Resurrection Shampoo & Conditioner. These are amazing for anyone with Weak, brittle hair, and seeing as I use to get my ends bleached these were perfect as they boost strength and stamina. They smell delicious too :).

They also do a Treatment mask which is gorgeous to use once a week!

After I have used them, I let my hair 70-80% dry. DO NOT rough towel dry, it will pull and damage your hair!

I then go in with my GHD Heat protecting spray. Just a spritz all over, paying attention to ends too. I really love this spray because it’s so lightweight.

I also use the Bedhead Ego Boost split end mender, this is a leave in conditioner, seals, smooths and once again protects your hair. I mix about a 50p piece size of this with a 5p piece size of the amazing Advance Techniques Nourishing hair serum with Moroccan Argan Oil from Avon! This stuff…..is the BEST and not only that it’s cheap and blimmin’ good for your hair! A little goes a long way, it literally is Gold to me. It isn’t greasy either, so I also use this when my hair is dry sometimes. If you have curls it will leave them looking full and glossy!

To also help my hair, I’ve quit using heat tools through the week! Only on special occasions now.

Check out my Instagram page for an amazing way of getting gorgeous waves using No Heat!! A lot of the girls who are using this technique are loving it just as much as me! Save your tresses the damage!!

Here is to beautiful healthy hair!! X

Eyelash Extensions- Why do they shed?

Wouldn’t it be flippin’ amazing if we could wear these beautiful Lashes with the perfect Volume or Curl ALL the time with no maintenance every few weeks?!

The reason our Eyelash Extensions shed is because of our Natural Lash Cycle! Yep! That’s right, we have no control over this- and neither does your Lash Technician unfortunately, you’re Natural Lashes and your own Lash cycle is to blame!

Eyelash Extensions fall out with your natural Lashes and when they do another beautiful Natural Lash is there to take it’s place. Us Lash tech’s can see when these Baby Lashes are there and any reputable Eyelash Technician will not add a false Lash onto a young lash- this is because it will cause trauma to it and we do not want to ruin any healthy growth, don’t worry though, it will be mature enough to place an extension on your next infill.

Lash extensions are obviously darker and have more of a curl than natural lashes so you will eventually notice that you have lost some and that’s when you need to think about booking an Infill. An Infill is classed as 40-50% loss. If you arrive at your appointment having just 3 lashes on either side, your Lash tech will need to charge for a full set.

Eyelash Extensions DO NOT make your natural lashes fall out! It is just a Natural Process that we all go through. The Natural lash will grow to a certain length and then shed (fall out).

Here is a diagram of our Lash Cycle….

ANAGAN STAGE:

Aka- Growth phase. This is the start of the Lash cycle. Eyelashes are actively growing until it reaches it’s full length. This phase can go on for 30-40 days.

CATAGEN:

The Hair follicle starts to shrink, pushing the Lash upwards disconnecting blood supply. This stage lasts 2/3 weeks.

TELOGEN:

The final stage of the Lash cycle. The lash is resting and then finishes with the lash falling out.

We all have different Cycles and are all at different phases in our cycles, but here at Jennifer Graves Hair and Beauty I will never apply a Lash extension to a Baby lash.

Aftercare is super important for your Lashes too. I speak about cleanliness in all Appointments. It is Paramount that you keep Lashes clean so as not to get an unwanted Eye infection. Brushing is always important in helping your lashes stay uniform, but in the odd case during the lash cycle where one is about to shed it may point a different way. Give it a little brush and more than likely it will shed.

Any Questions you may have, Please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Christmas Bride- Mrs Perry

I was recommended to the beautiful Holly by a mutual friend and I’m so glad she recommended me to her! Holly was an absolute star from start to finish, she is ‘the girl next door’ and a girl everyone loves, who you can have a real giggle with.

Holly came in for her Bridal trial with her gorgeous mum, we went through a few lovely styles and Holly agreed on one, but a few months later wanted to try another one, quite similar, but with more of a smoother look. I aim to ensure my Brides are 100% happy on the day so I was happy that Holly came back and wanted to try another style.

Holly was also interested in the 3D eyelash extensions that I do so we booked her in to trial them for her Hen do, I enjoyed chatting about the wedding and some of the finer details for the day! I was so excited to be a part of it.

The day came around really quick, I had been so busy with weddings and other appointments that the year just flew by!! I woke at 4.30am on the 22nd December to get myself prepared for the day and made my way to Holly’s Parents’ house in Henfield.

Holly’s Mum and Dad are so lovely, making everyone feel so welcome in their beautiful Home, constantly making sure everyone is fed and watered.

I started with the Bridesmaids Hair, Pin curling and then styling as the morning went on. They all went for gorgeous low maintenance styles which are perfect for Bridesmaids!

Holly’s stunning Flowers arrived, put together by the amazing ‘The Crazy Daisy Company’, they were so perfect for a Christmas wedding!

Myself and Holly’s super talented Makeup artist ‘Becky Howie MUA’ worked amazing together with getting all the gorgeous ladies Wedding ready! Go and check Beckie out, so so lovely with Makeup skills to die for!

Snapping away in the background was the lovely Amanda Lucas Photography, I cannot wait to see some of the amazing shots she captured!

It was nearly time…..time to put on the dress and veil. Holly’s stunning gown was from Eva Rose Bridal and was just so beautiful! The detailing was perfect and everything tied in lovely!

Doesn’t she look breathtaking? Such a lovely morning getting this beautiful lady ready!

The chauffeur had arrived from Falcon Wedding Cars in an amazing car to take people to the wedding, it was time for Holly Andrews to become Mrs Holly Perry!

As always I wish you all the Happiness and Love in your marriage together and I Thank you for choosing me to do your hair for your special day!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Perry! X

Mrs Sophie Davies

Sophie kept getting tagged in my posts on Facebook by the lovely Helen and Zoe Eustace and had been following me on Social media for quite a while, and so she decided to book me to do her Wedding hair!

We arranged a trial and it was so nice to finally meet Sophie. She brought along one of her Bridesmaids, the lovely Zoe along for some support!

The trial went so well and we tried 2 different styles, which was to make Sophie’s decision a lot more difficult! But I knew she would find the perfect one to fit her Perfect day!

The day came around very quickly after the trial. I arrived at the beautiful Hickstead Hotel on Saturday 8th December bright and early on a very cold morning!

Sophie and her two Bridesmaids were all excited and in good spirits despite it being so early! The lovely Zoe was on Tea duty while I pin curled Sophie’s hair.

We decided to leave them for a few hours as I really wanted them curls to have a lovely bounce and last all day!

I started on the Bridesmaids who all had a lovely low bun style.

As the morning went on, some of Sophie’s family members were coming in to lend a hand. And her beautiful daughter came in who is just the cutest little lady!

It was time to take out the Pin curls and complete Sophie’s final look! Sophie went with the Half up Half down from the trial….

As I was finished, I got some sentimental pictures of the morning. I’m always snapping away on a Wedding morning to try and capture part of your special day! Here are a few…..

My job here was done :), doesn’t she look absolutely stunning?!

As I left, Sophie’s Dad thanked me along the corridor and said how wonderful they all looked, that means an awful lot to hear the Father of the Bride say that! And it was my pleasure to work on such lovely people.

Sophie, you are an absolute Queen! Beautiful Inside and Out, I thank you for choosing me to do your Wedding hair!

I wish the new Mr & Mrs Davies All the Love, Luck and Happiness in the world with your beautiful little Princess! X

Mrs Jenny Munn

The lovely Jenny got in contact with me on my Instagram page in September asking if I could do hers, her Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride’s hair for her wedding day in November. Luckily I had the availability as my wedding season had started to calm down!

Jenny came to her trial on the 3rd November, super relaxed and announced she was 10 weeks pregnant!!! How exciting?! This is to be their first baby so what a lovely time for them. Jenny knew how she wanted her hair so she was an easy Bride to please! The style went perfect with her overall look.

I decided to bring my Junior assistant Abbie with me to do 2 of the Bridesmaid’s hair as it was an early one. We arrived in Worthing at 6.30am on 24th November, the weather wasn’t the best, but rain is lucky on your wedding day and I don’t doubt this lovely couple will have a beautiful marriage. Jenny and her tribe were all getting ready in her Nan’s gorgeous apartment.

I started by Pin curling Jenny’s hair so she could then potter around and get on with anything she needed to. This would also help those lovely curls stay in!

The morning went by pretty quick, we enjoyed chatting to everyone and listening to Jenny’s Nan’s lovely stories.

The Bridesmaids went for a lovely plaited updo but if hair is thin, we generally know that plaits may not work, so we did some twists in two of the Bridesmaid’s Updos.

Mother of the Bride went for a Classic french twist which would be low maintenance and off her face for the day.

It was time to get the Bride Wedding Hair ready after being in makeup.

She looked absolutely breathtaking! The detailing on the dress was just beautiful and a Simple Half up Half down was perfect for Jenny.

Mr & Mrs Munn, I wish you the world of Love & Happiness in your marriage!

Thanks for choosing me to do your Wedding hair! X

Mrs Elizabeth Laker.

I first met Elizabeth back in January 2018 to do her hair for an event, Jenna Marie Makeup artistry on Makeup. Elizabeth said she was getting married this year and she later messaged me to book her Wedding Hair appointment. Hubby to be Dean was there and you could really tell how much he loves Elizabeth, it was lovely to see.

I was really excited to be able to do Elizabeth’s wedding hair and to be working alongside Jenna again. I also did a trial on her Sister Nicola’s hair who went for a Half up Half down curly style.

We arranged a trial and Elizabeth knew exactly what she wanted so we just did the one style.

A few days before the wedding Elizabeth came in for some 3D lash extensions and so did her lovely sister Nicola.

I arrived at the stunning Buxted Park on the very foggy morning of 25th October 2018 to a very calm Elizabeth, two of her Bridesmaids and Sister in the room having breakfast. The bathroom in her suite was enormous! I started by Pin curling Nicola’s lovely long hair so the curls would stay in. The Bridesmaids had a nice simple Updo and Mother of the Bride went for a classic french twist.

It was then time to get Elizabeth’s hair wedding ready!

The morning went quick but it was finally time for Elizabeth to get her dress on….

They all looked so amazing! Elizabeth you were a dream to work on! Thanks for choosing me to do your Lash Extensions and your hair! I absolutely loved being part of your wedding morning!

Toni Bedford Photography was snapping away for their special day, here are a few of the Professional shots sent to me by Elizabeth….

I wish Mr & Mrs Laker a lifetime of Happiness in your marriage! X

Mrs Gemma Morris

The gorgeous delightful Gemma! Another super laid back very calming Bride to be who was a scream to be around! I loved her fun, bubbly personality and her Bridesmaids were the perfect match for her!

I did Gemma’s wedding with the amazing Jenna Marie Makeup Artistry, so we did the trial all together and we literally felt like we had known these ladies for years!

Myself and Jenna arrived at the gorgeous Mannings Heath Golf Club on the rainy morning of 6th October 2018.

All the ladies were in great spirits and excited for the day ahead! They all lined their stomachs with a Full english and there was lots of laughter on the morning!

Myself and Jenna worked well together in getting them all ready on time.

Gemma went for a Modern Bride Upstyle which I loved recreating from the trial!

If I learned anything about this gorgeous woman, it’s that she is full of love for people. You can see this just by these pictures of her and her Niece….

Gemma, you and your Bride Tribe were amazing to be around! Thanks so much for choosing me to do Hair on your special day!

Wishing Mr & Mrs Morris all the Love, Luck and Happiness in the world! X

Mrs Sian Blackley

The beautiful Sian! Not just my Bride, my friend too & not forgetting my little boys future Mother in law ;). I was so happy Sian asked me to do her Bridal hair. I also did her Gel nails and Eyelash Extensions for the big day.

Sian’s trial went really well and she brought along her lovely Mum for some support and opinions. It went really well and it didn’t take long at all to pick the perfect style for her. The Hair slide was so gorgeous and it looked amazing in her hair.

I arrived at Sian’s lovely Home just down the road from me on the morning of 5th October 2018 to get these gorgeous ladies Wedding ready! Again working with my lovely friend and Makeup artist Jenna Marie Makeup Artistry who did all their faces even more gorgeous!

Such a lovely morning doing all their hair, all the children playing, Sian’s two daughters and nieces were all really excited for the day. I’m now hooked on the soundtrack of The Greatest Showman! The best soundtrack for a wedding morning.

Sian gave gift bags to the girls filled with goodies for them. The Photographer snapping away, check out the phenomenal Mark Cloete on Instagram or Facebook. The Bridesmaids had their hair put up with a style of their choice and Sian’s Mum opted for a nice Blow-dry adding volume to her hair. Then it was Sian’s turn and was she about to blow us all away….

Sian, you are the definition of a Natural Beauty! You looked incredible on your special day. Thankyou so much for letting me pamper you with Lashes, Nails & do everyone’s Hair for your wedding.

Wishing Mr & Mrs Blackley a lifetime of Love & Happiness with your beautiful girls x

Mrs Louisa Zuccarello-Smith

Louisa, super organised, laid back and just a really lovely Bride to be. She got in touch by recommendation from her Aunty Kelly who’s hair I do for events. March 2017 she enquired and we set some dates ready for her trial.

Louisa would message me for my advice on head pieces and clips for her wedding and I was blown away by her choice. It was so beautiful and went perfect with her style.

I was so excited to do Louisa’s wedding as I got to work with the amazing Melissa Lilly Sharp and it was an Autumnal wedding too, my favourite season!

We arrived at the wonderful Alexander House Hotel at 9.30am on 3rd October 2018. The room was stunning and everyone was super excited, but again, Louisa was laid back and calm. I started off by Pin curling Louisa’s gorgeous long hair so she had the morning to get a few other bits sorted.

Louisa & Stefan’s son arrived and is such a cute little man with a smile that lit up the room, you wouldn’t think he was there, he was taking it all in. The photographer also arrived who was a pleasure to meet and his work is absolutely stunning, go and check him out on Insta or Facebook: Wrapp Weddings.

The curls were absolutely gorgeous on Louisa and I pinned around her face into twists for a bit more of a Unique Half up Half down look. I told you the hair slide was amazing! I just loved the stoned draping down the curls!

Just a few of the other looks from the day…..

Flower Girl Lillian, I just put some serum through her beautiful curls to define them.

A few of the professional Photographers pics too sent to me by Louisa-Wrapp Weddings.

Louisa you looked absolutely gorgeous and Thankyou so so much for letting me be a part of your special day, you were amazing to work with from start to finish!

Wishing Mr & Mrs Zuccarello-Smith a lifetime of Love & Happiness x
